After successfully building Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (TPST) in Pesanggrahan Sub-District, now South Jakarta Administration plans to build another one in Kebayoran Lama Sub-District. The area is chosen because there is a market there that produces quite amount of trashes every day.
Besides market, in here there are also many trashes piling on roadsides, so we need to make TPST
“Besides market, in here there are also many trashes piling on roadsides, so we need to make TPST. The TPST will be built on a 400-square-meter land belongs to Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department on Jalan Jiban, RW 01, Grogol Selatan,” stated Head of Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, Agus Irwanto, Thursday (7/10).
According to Irwanto, by having TPST, control to trash volume in each urban village would be easier even until to RT level. In addition, trash transportation would also be faster.
Public Works Ministry Contributes 20 TPSTsMeanwhile, Head of South Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Zaenal Syarifudin, admitted that he supports the construction of TPST in Kebayoran Lama Sub-District. Aside from able to record data of where the trashes come from, it could also press commercial practice from the provision of illegal dumpsites (TPS).
“If trash management that uses carriage or motor had thought commercial, they count and try to reach household wastes as much as possible due to many cross-regions. For instance, trash in Pasar Minggu sent to Pancoran TPS or vice versa,” he told.
It is planned that the TPST will be equipped with trash bank. In addition, chopper machine will also be put there to make composting.
However, the plan is not yet fully accepted by the local residents. This is because not only would spread foul odor, the TPST would also makes residents’ access on Jalan Jiban hampered.
“Even now there are already many trashes that smell and caused traffic congestion with the in and out of dump trucks. The residents want the land to be acquisitioned, at least in a radius of 100 meters from the TPST if possible,” uttered Salim (46), resident of RT 05/01 Grogol Selatan who admitted had been joined in a discussion with urban village party.
